Welcome!

Moving Finger

Each one of us is a traveller, a traveller in both space and time. Our individual lives, and the lives of those other travellers which intersect with ours, define a complex interconnected web of points and vectors, a tangled series of so-called world-lines, in a "static" block of spacetime which is already mapped out and frozen in four dimensions. These individual lives, the paths followed by each traveller in that 4D block of spacetime, even though they are each predetermined, are all journeys of discovery from the perspective of the traveller on the world-line. Each traveller is continuously laying bare (from his/her vantage point) the contours and the topology of that undiscovered country which we call "tomorrow", and at the same time he/she is continuously remembering and "learning" (for those of us who are wise) from the contours and topology of the place which we call "yesterday". This journey into the undiscovered country is interesting and exciting simply because it IS a journey of discovery into the unknown - if we were to know "tomorrow" as well as we know "yesterday", then the interest and excitement would vanish.

Celebrate the unknown, and celebrate your journey into the undiscovered country of the future - for these things, and these things alone, provide the only genuine, rational meaning to life.

About This Website

This site contains an eclectic mix of material which reflects most of the spectrum of my philosophical interests in this brief sojourn of mine on earth. My interests here range from quantum mechanics to consciousness, from knowledge to qualia, from the meaning of time & space to the meaning of responsibility & free will. Where my philosophical ideas have become (I believe) more fleshed out, coherent and concrete, I have "published" these thoughts within the Papers section (menu button to the left). I welcome your feedback and comments - feel free to contact me (use the Contact Me menu button to the left).
